According to the Met department, the duration of the eclipse would be 3 hours and 22 minutes and known to be the longest solar eclipse of the year 2020. PMD’s Climate Data Processing Centre specified that it only happens when the center of the sun is covered by the moon and the outer edges of the sun then form a ring-like structure known as the “ ring of fire ”. The type of eclipse mostly depends on the distance of the moon from the Earth.
