Islamabad: In an effort to improve the quality of education in universities crosswise the country, Higher Education Commission (HEC) is all set to review the eligibility criteria to rank the universities of Pakistan.
Executive Director of Higher Education Commission Dr Arshad while talking to media sources that “The criteria should motivate higher education institutes to make required changes to improving their academic quality and also to develop a healthy competitive environment.”

As per the issued press release, HEC organized meeting along with the experts to review the criteria. The new ranking criteria targeted to rank the university programmes instead of the universities as a whole.
During the meeting the experts emphasized on the need to pay proper attention on the quality of education
The experts assigned new weightages to key performance indicators comprising of quality assurance, faculty and students, teaching quality, research, finance, facilities and social integration and community development.
