Islamabad: Qauid-i-Azam University (QAU) has rusticated 26 aspirants over involvement in the recent violence on campus.
This step has been taken on the recommendation of a disciplinary committee formed by the vice chancellor of the university to fix responsibility for the May 20th, 2017 armed clash among the aspirants of the Sindhi and Baloch student councils of the university, which had left almost 35 aspirants injured.

On that day, the police were called on the spot to restore peace on campus had tear-gassed students and the police had made arrests before the management of varsity suspended educational activities and closed the hostels of boys till next orders.
At first, the expelled aspirants were stopped from attending their respective classes as well as sitting exams until their clearance by the disciplinary committee.
Among these students there were 20 hostellers while the others were the day scholars. Those aspirants are enrolled in different bachelor’s and master’s programs.

As per the relevant QAU staff member, 26 aspirants after being found involved in the May 20th, 2017 incident have been rusticated from the university for two semesters i.e. spring 2017 and fall 2017.
He furthermore added that a fine of Rs 30, 000-50, 000 each, cancellation of hostel rooms and permanent ban on more admission in the university were other major punishments imposed on the aspirants.
The staff member said that the management had formally informed the related departments as well as sections regarding the development for obedience or mandatory action.
