On social media there has been news circulating for the last few days that university students will be promoted without examinations and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has allowed it. It also mentioned in the post that the HEC had decided to stop all Online Classes due to COVID-19 Pandemic situation. However, The HEC has declared the news is fake.
ON Saturday 6th June 2020, HEC on his official Twitter account has tweeted that the image is fake. The tweet address, "PLEASE NOTE: HEC is addressing students’ concerns regarding online classes and exams but promoting students without examination is out of question.”We also provide you Online Study Plateform
Before this fake news, the students demanded complete Waiver of University Semester Fee. Students gathered outside the HEC house Islamabad.
The students claimed that the students are using their own resources like WIFI and mobile internet to access the recorded lectures which the universities are providing in the form online education. The students demanded 50% cut off in their semester fees and promotion to the next semester.
Seeing the situation Higher Education Commission Chairperson Tariq Banuri said on Sunday that no compromise is being made on studies whether the Educational institutions may have closed for three weeks.
According to the HEC Chairperson that an online Learning Management System (LMS) will be introduced and a team of experts will also be formed for more than 70 classes.Online classes for university and college students has been launched by the department across the country and teachers will give lectures online during these three weeks, “Those Institutions that don’t have these systems will make it sure to be installed in two weeks,” the chairperson said.
