President Arif Alvi Visits 23rd Convocation of Hamdard University Held on Saturday
Hamdard University celebrated its 23rd convocation on Saturday. 1400 students belonging form its seven faculties graduated. 190 students received MPhill degrees whereas 10 students received PhD degrees. Hakim Mohammed Said gold medals were given to 8 students and 30 gold medals were given to students for excellent academic performance by Hamdard University.
President Arif Alvi attended the convocation as chief guest of the event. While addressing at the event the President of Pakistan said, ‘Our country Pakistan hosts 3.5 million Afghan refugees with respect. We have welcomed them. We as a nation are proud of that and everyone should take pride in this brotherly gesture - as there is no other country in the entire world which has taken such a huge burden for decades’.
He gave example of China which has developed its economy through education, knowledge and by reducing poverty. He said today is the time of education based economic development. He praised the founder of Hamdard University, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said who travelled as economy class passenger during his tenure as Governor of Sindh. He said nations only progress through contributions and sacrifices of such icons as Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said.
The VC of Hamdard University, Sadia Rashid said,’ Hamdard University's founder Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, began his clinic with two rented rooms with rented furniture and saw around 5 million patients without charging any fee by the time he was martyred, so you too don't need a fortune to make a beginning which leads to success.’
Turkey to Set Up a Vocational Center in Pakistan
An agreement to set up a vocational center in Pakistan was signed by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and National Skill University Islamabad on Wednesday. According to the agreement the vocational center will be state-of-the-art center of excellence and will provide vocational training courses and tourism education.
The MoU was signed by President of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Serdar Cam, Pakistani Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood and National Vocational Training Centre Chairman Javed Hassan in Islamabad. While speaking at the signing ceremony of MoU the president of TIKA Serdar Cam said this institution will help our Pakistani brothers and sisters to receive international standard quality education.
He said, He was very happy today to sign this agreement which will help to boost education and tourism in Pakistan. Pakistani Education Minister thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his help and friendship with Pakistani people. He also thanked him for approving to set up this mega-project in Pakistan. He said, He was extremely grateful to the Turkish leadership which is establishing a state-of-the-art hospitality institution in Pakistan which will help to our young men and women to receive quality education and training’.
Turkish ambassador to Pakistan Mustafa Yurdakul was also present at the event. He said that his country wants to strengthen brotherly ties with Pakistan and his government is always ready to help Pakistani brothers and sisters. He said, ‘Republic of Turkey considers it to be his duty to stand with Pakistan in provision of high quality education to its people’.
