Lahore: The Government College University of Lahore (GCU), Pakistan, has announced the scholarships for the students of Nigeria who are interested in its undergraduate and post graduate studies.
The head of Chancery, Pakistan High Commission, Azim Khan, made this known in an interview along with NAN on Wednesday in Abuja.
Azim Khan furthermore added that the scholarship offer covered “all degree programmes,” adding that there were already almost 30 Nigerians studying in the University on Pakistani scholarship.

“The scholarships will be given to the Nigerian students on first come first serve basis,” Khan said, urging the interested Nigerians to apply online at (http://www.gcu.edu.pk/foreign_stu.html).
The representative revealed that the current scholarship offer will admit “at least 30 Nigerians”.
Government College University is a government sector research university. Its alumni network comprises of two Nobel prize laureates Abdus Salam and Har Gobind Khorana and also the philosopher Muhammad Iqbal, World Court President (1970-1973) Muhammad Zafarullah Khan, 4 prime ministers of Pakistan as well as several Rhodes Scholars.

This college is the oldest college in Pakistan and also one of the oldest educational institutes of higher learning in the Muslim world.
The educational institute was established in 1864 as an affiliate college of Calcutta University.
In 2002, it was granted the status of university by the Government of Pakistan; the word college is reserved in its title for maintaining its historical roots.
