Karachi: The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), governed by the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Thursday along with Karachi Council for Foreign Relations (KCFR).

Karachi Council for Foreign Relations was representing Iqra University, Karachi.

As per the signed agreement, MGIMO and Iqra University will work as one towards the development as well as consolidation of traditional relations of friendship among Russia and Pakistan.

The memorandum of understanding was signed between Russian dean Anatoly V Torkunov in absentia and KCFR Secretary-General Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi at Russian Consulate in the presence of Consul General Oleg N Avdeev.

These two universities decided to take steps like exchange of delegations as well as professionals for sharing experience as well as information, partaking in scientific conferences and seminars, exchange of students and faculty as well, organizing joint conferences and exchange of academic literature as well as journals.

While commenting on the agreement, Zubairi told the media sources that MoU holds a unique difference because it involves the two well-known universities that have recognized the need of firming up bilateral relations among the two states.

Zubairi was of the opinion that the think tanks and the academics must fill the space where the foreign office cannot play a vital role in advancing the relations along with the other states.
