Lahore: A soon-to-be student of the University of the Punjab (PU) was found dead in the girl’s hostel in a suspected suicide case on Tuesday.
According to the management of university and police the woman committed suicide at the Girls’ Sports Hostel No 5 at the new campus of PU possibly disheartened over some domestic issues.
22 years old Ayesha Furqan from Attock had applied for admission to the university on sports quota in hons. programme. She was called to the campus by the management of university for trials on October 23rd, 2016.

The woman was staying as a paying guest after the approval of the university at Hazrat Zainab (AS) Hostel along her cousin Sadia Khalid, who herself is a student of BS (Honours) Sports Sciences for the academic session 2012-16.
On Tuesday Noon, the student went back to her room after attending her morning classes and constantly knocked at the door without getting any response.
Sadia informed the officials of management, who broke into the room to find the woman hanging from the ceiling fan.

At that time the victim was wearing her sports kit, suggesting she had either gone out in the field for practice or she was planning to go out before her death.
A representative of Punjab University told media sources that the woman had applied for admission on sports basis and also performed very well during the trials.
According to her cousin, the woman had been struggling along with some family issues and might have committed suicide.
Sub-Inspector Dildar Husain of Muslim Town police station said that the police were waiting for the family of the victim to decide for further progress of action on this case.
Police have recorded the statements of eyewitnesses and also collected the forensic evidence.
