Karachi: The President of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) Prof Dr Zubair Sheikh said that full financial aid will be offered to MAJU students for establishment of their own business incubators after the successful completion of their education rather than wasting their energy for seeking employment.
He said this while addressing the aspirants as well as their parents at pre-admission seminar held at university auditorium last evening. The head of Computer Science Department Ahmer Umer gave a presentation about academic programmes as well as extra-curriculum activities of MAJU.
Senior faculty members including Dr Shujaat Mubarak, Dr Ghazanfer Munir, Dr Asim Imdad Wagan and Dr Munir Hussain were also present on the event.
Dr Zubair Sheikh said that the aspirants who have a plan to set up their own business or software house along with office space, telephone, internet as well as other relevant facilities will be provided at university campus for the time period of six months.
During this time period, if they feel that their business has been established now, they would be permitted to shift their office at their own premises, he added.
He said:
"We are trying our best to arrange 100% internship for our students in this respect as we have established contacts along with the five leading foreign companies to establish their incubator cells at university campus."
He said that our aspirants will be in a position to build their project cell for six months to make their own companies.
The MAJU president informed that Microsoft is going to support incubators soon whereas academic alliance along with SAP, Oracles finance and CISCO is also in progress.
Dr Zubair Sheikh highlighted the need of electrical engineering and computer system engineering as two main engineering disciplines. Both are being started at bachelors and masters level at MAJU, he added.
The industry oriented faculty members and PhDs from USA, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Canada Turkey and Korea will soon join the MAJU faculty.
