Lahore: The fact finding committee of University of the Punjab on LLB Part-2 paper “Mercantile Law” has decided to give 5 marks to all the aspirants in the paper on concerned ground.

While addressing a press conference at the Punjab University Club on Tuesday, PU Law College Principal Dr Shazia Naureen Qureshi, also clarified that the decision of the committee will also not be cited as precedent in future to give any relief.

The Principal Quaid-e-Azam Law College Nafeer A Malik, the chairperson of Fact Finding Committee and Assistant Professor PU Law College Dr Amanullah Malik as well as other members of the committee were also present there.

Dr Shazia Qureshi said that the marking of LLB Part-2 paper “Mercantile Law” was correct and according to the routine and no unjust was found along with the candidates during the investigation of marking of all the solved papers.

But, she said, that the committee decided to give 5 marks to all the apsirants in the paper on compassionate ground.

She furthermore added that the result of the students of PU Law College as well as private colleges was good and also was according to the routine in the paper of Mercantile Law.

Though, she said, large number of aspirants of some private colleges performed poor in the paper which affected overall passing ratio. 

She said that the students had obtained good marks in rest of the papers of LLB Part 2 and after award of these ‘grace’ marks in Mercantile Law, their result will be improved and 625 students will get benefit of this decision of investigation committee.

Dr Shazia Qureshi said principals of private colleges, including Pakistan Law College, Punjab Law College, Quaid-e-Azam Law College as well as National Law College were included in the fact finding committee and all the marked papers were shown to them.

To a question, Dr Shazia Qureshi replied there were some other reasons behind those baseless protests. A few activists of Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) were expelled from the college and IJT wanted to pressurize the management for restoration of the expelled students through these demonstrations, she added. She said that the management will not take any pressure.

She clarified that the decision of the committee will also not be cited as example in future to give any relief. 

While responding another question, she said that the private secretary of Dean Faculty of Law, who was shown in video marking papers of LLB, had a degree of LLM and was eligible to mark LLB papers.

In the meantime, some LLB students of some private colleges also protested, against what they termed unfair marking, at New Campus on Tuesday.

They also tried to reach the venue of the press conference however the security guards of university did not allow them to do so.
