Lahore: According to the Provincial Minister for Higher Education, Syed Raza Ali Gillani the process of distribution of 1 lakh and 15 thousand laptops among the students of universities will begin from March 13th, 2017.

He gave this statement while heading a departmental meeting at Civil Secretariat on Wednesday. The Secretary Higher Education Department Naseem Nawaz as well as the representatives of private universities and the Punjab Higher Education Commission were also present in the meeting.

At first, the students of government sector universities will be given laptops as per by the set criteria and merit.

Though, the government of Punjab has also decided to give 5 thousand laptops to the brilliant and deserving students of private sector universities so that they can equally benefit from this scheme which is targeted at improving access of the students from low-income families to the digital world.

The meeting discussed about the distribution of laptops in private sector universities’ students and observed that merit and transparency will be completely ensured. Raza Gillani said that the provision of laptops to the private sector universities is another ‘first’ of the Punjab government, adding that this will assist the aspirants to enhance their access to the latest knowledge-trends.

He moreover said that then series, I-7 laptops have been bought for the students.
