Federal government has instructed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to design a new website along with the proposed name of “Learning Opportunities Abroad” which will be connected to the websites of HEC and Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
These orders were given in a meeting of Higher Education Commission about the new developments in higher education headed by the Minister of State Engineer Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman.
The main agenda of the meeting involved; Scholarship Programs, Criteria For M.Phil And PhDs, Facilities for the special Students, Pakistan Chairs Abroad, Relationship with Different Countries Concerning Higher Education, and the complete achievements of HEC.
The chairperson of Higher Education Commission Dr. Mukhtar briefed the minister of state about the scholarship programs checked and facilitated by the commission. He further sad that;
2654 students have been sent on scholarships from 2009 up till now through various agreed programs among countries and Higher Education Commission.
There is no gap of scholarship for the year of 2016. However, there is always a space for improvement.

This new website will contain all the information starting from the scholarships available to the destination available for studies to the authorizations of foreign universities etc. it will provide a complete account to the Pakistani aspirants regarding the opportunities available in the world.
A new website named as ‘Learning Opportunities Abroad’ will be a one-stop portal for foreign higher education.
It would help the local students immensely as they would have easily accessible information at hand.
Minister of State also instructed the commission to write letters to all the embassies here and asked them to deliver the information about the scholarships available in their respective countries for international aspirants.
