Lahore: On Wednesday, the higher education commission (HEC) appointed well-known biologist Prof Dr Ikhramul Haq as 'Distinguished National Professor' in the acknowledgement of his priceless services in the botany and biotechnology field.

Professor Dr Ikhramul Haq, who is professor emeritus at the Government College University (GCU), did his post-doctorate from Cornell University, New York, and has written more than 300 national as well as international journals and 5 books.
The Vice Chancellor of Government college University Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah as well as the senior faculty of GCU have congratulated Prof Ikramul Haq, saying that he is the first person from GCU to be honoured by the higher education commission.

Prof Dr Ikramul Haq is also a receiver of Sitara-i-Imtaiz as well as the 3 international awards, also including the ISESCO Science and Technology Award 2016.
He was also the founder director of the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology at Government College University, and also served as Faculty of Science and Technology dean at GCU.
