Five-day book fair kicks off at UAF

Faisalabad: Organizing book fairs in educational institutions is an encouraging move towards increasing the reading habits among the people. Actually, there is a need to promote book reading culture at all levels.

This statement was given by the French Ambassador to Pakistan Martine Dorance during her visit to the 19^th book fair of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad that kicks off on Monday.

The vice chancellor of University of Agriculture Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan was also with the ambassador. The book fair consists of 30 stalls as well as the collection of over 50,000 books that are offered at enough affordable prices to the visitors.

The book fair furthermore comprises of a massive collection of printed material ranging from arts, science, agriculture, engineering; literature and also the Islamic books.

The partakers of the book fair were enthralled by classics of both Urdu and English literature, technical manuals, dictionaries as well as the books dealing along with the computer science, business management and accounting as well.

While conversing on this event, Martine Dorance   said, “The youth are stuck to their cell phones while the book reading habits are decreasing day by day.”

At the same time, a visitor Zainab said she visited the book fair to get the books on literature. She said that she used to wait for such events to fulfill her habit of book reading.

Another visitor of the book fair Muhammad Ali said:

“It is really very sad that the young generation does not read the books and the trend is decreasing. Holding such book fairs will promote the trend of book reading.”

The Library Principal Officer Dr Muhammad Aslam, deans, French Higher Education Attaché Sebastien Cartier, Cooperation Attaché Olivier Huynh-Van  and Philippe Garnier were also present there.
