A modified syllabus for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) has been confirmed by the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training.
The new syllabus for the aspirants of grade 1st to grade 5th will put additional emphasis on civil conduct, moral values, global residency, tolerance as well as more respect towards diversity.

This task of modifying the syllabus was accepted by a working group of syllabus specialists, education experts, government officials as well as the teachers under the leadership of the Ministry of Education.
According to a representative from the Ministry, the final draft of the new syllabus has been sent for approval and it is expected that ministry will approve and notify it before the end of June this year.
Abide by the notification, the procedure of the preparations of textbook will begin and new books based on the modified syllabus will be published before the end of this year (2017).

The ministry representative furthermore added that the Minister for Federal Education, Engr Balighur Rehman, has closely checked the revision procedure during the past few months.
Guidelines
The minister had also issued the special orders that the new syllabus must pay attention on the following values:
o Ethical values
o Civil conduct
o Civic sense
o Global citizenship
o Environmental protection
o Democratic culture
o Energy conservation
o National Harmony
o Health and hygiene
o Tolerance and respect for diversity
At first, in a statement, Balighur Rehman announced that the ministry was stressing on improving the quality of education as well as research in Pakistan.
As per the minister, the syllabus review project is a step in the similar direction.
The ministry used 8 subject specialist committees and every committee consists of 10 members, for syllabuses review and revision.
The revised subject groups include:
o ECCE (Pre-primary education)
o Languages (Urdu and English)
o General Science
o General Knowledge
o Social Studies
o Mathematics
o Islamic Studies
