Karachi, Dow University of Health Sciences has opened admissions in summer short courses in Applied Biostatistics, Fundamental Epidemiology, Research Methodology and Statistical Software for Health Sciences.
The specification of the course of Applied Bio statistics are that it is designed for statistical concepts and analytical methods as applied to data encountered in biotechnology and biomedical sciences. It emphasizes the basic concepts of experimental design, quantitative analysis and statistical inferences.
The specifications of the course of Statistical Software for Health Sciences are that it is designed to familiarize with MS Excel, Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). Minitab, EpiData and Statistical Analysts System (SAS) and will cover topics such as data management, graphing, descriptive analyses and simple Inferential tests, such as t-tests, chi-square test and one-factor ANOVA.
The specification of the course Fundamental Epidemiology are: it built the knowledge and skills around basic epidemiology and medical statistics and will utilize computer packages appropriate for these skills. It will also provide the methodology and practical application of epidemiological tools for interpretation of data and reporting of field studies.
The Research Methodology is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the research methods currently required to perform basic research.
Application forms can be submitted till May 25 and classes will start from June 01. The fee of the course is Rs 22, 000 and duration of the program is consist of 12 weeks.

The eligibility criteria is: Individual / Candidate from public & private organizations. Applied Biostatistics course fee will be Rs. 24,000/-.
