Lahore: The government of Punjab has started distribution tablet computers among the teachers of government sector schools under its E-Learn Punjab programme.

While presiding over a meeting, the chairperson of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr Umar Saif, who is also the vice-chancellor of the Information Technology University (ITU), said that under the supervision of this proramme 200 tablets, having developed software of PITB, will be distributed among 8 selected schools in the first stage, adding that after the successful main project, the same will be extended to the whole province.

Dr Umar Saif said that the programme was targeted introduce to advanced education system. He said the teachers will conduct their lectures on LED screens not on traditional blackboards.

The 8 selected schools are Government Girls High School, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Lahore, Government Boys Central Model School, Lahore, Government Model High School, Khanewal, Government Sadiq High School, Bahawalpur, Government Girls Higher Secondary School No 1, Attock, Government High School, Joharabad, Government Girls High School No 2, Gujranwala and Daanish School for Boys, Rajanpur.

So far, the Government Girls High School, Gulshan-e-Ravi, has received 20 tablets.
