According to the Press Release, National University of Modern Languages (NUML) has organized a 2-day Annual Book Fair 2015 to come around the tradition of book-reading between the students.
This annual book fair was organized by the NUML Office of Research, Innovations and Commercialization (NORIC) in which approximately 16 book publishers displayed an extensive range of books on the topics, consisting of the literature, linguistics, management sciences, engineering, information technology, international relations, mass communication, Islamic studies, history, economics, corporate social responsibility, Pak-China relations plus the translation as well as the interpretation.
The Executive Director of Higher Education Commission Dr. G. Raza Bhatti together with the Principal of NUML Major General (R) Zia-ud-Din Najam participated as the chief guest of the ceremony and inaugurated the book fair. Though, the director of NUML General Brigadier (R) Azam Jamal, the registrar, directors and also the other staff members attended the opening ceremony of Book Fair.
During his address on the event, the Executive Director of Higher Education Commission Raza Bhatti said there was no greater pleasure rather than reading the books in the free time. The present boost in the technology has made it quite convenient for the aspirants to get the access to the e-books of their interest however the pleasure as well as the happiness associate along with the hard copy of a book was mysterious.
The Principal of NUML Zia-ud-Din Najam while sharing his views along with the addressees of the event said that this is the second annual book fair of NUML. National university of Modern Languages is dedicated to bring the aspirants again in libraries instead of wasting their time on cell phones or on the other latest gadgets of today. He also added that the NUML is not against the newly introduced devices however their negative use has badly affected the habit of reading books in spare time. He moreover said that “these sorts of book fairs can play a vital role for revitalization of library culture and that’s why we are dedicated to take book-reading culture in our university”.
Gulfam Khan Khalid, the manager of the university industry linkages of NORIC, said that the main objective of this book fair was to promote academic and non-academic reading habits between the aspirants. A large number of students visited the book fair on the first day of its opening and showed their interest in various books. The Annual Book Fair will continue till today.
