Islamabad, The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will now send the books to students by Pakistan Postal Services through Urgent Mail Service (UMS).
The distance learning institution, AIOU, sends the educational material to students at their home addresses and aspirants sends the assignments to university by post.
The AIOU vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Ali Asghar Chishti informed that now students could receive the books in a shortest possible time and in this regard the postal service has been arranged to ensure the provision of books on time.
"We are also planning to collect admission forms and fee of students by post. For the delivery of books, assignments, degrees the university provides Rs150 million to the postal services per semester" Dr. Chishti said.
At the university website www.aiou.edu.pk and through official phone numbers all the concerned students can check the status for the delivery of books, he added.
AIOU student, Mohammad Bilal said that mostly students got books in the middle of semester and certain even did not get them. With the urgent mail service students could be able to study well and complete their assignments accordingly, he said.
AIOU has a vast network of regional centers across the country which is providing educational services in Pakistan in the Middle East. AIOU is a Distance Education institution which is offering multi-disciplinary education from basic to doctoral level programs.
The university has established 36 regional campuses and centers across the country to manage and facilitate efficient system of education of the university. The qualified teachers and experts of several fields of study in their area and the university hire them as part-time tutors. Each group of students is assigned to a tutor for guidance.
