Lahore: The 12th Convocation of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was organized on Wednesday.
Total 6,485 degrees were granted to BS, MS, graduates and M.Phil scholars of LCWU and associated institutes in different disciplines. 125 gold medals and 22 PhD degrees were also presented to the brilliant students.
Governor (Chancellor) Malik Rafique Rajwana presented degrees and gold medals to the successful candidates.
While addressing on the event, Vice-Chancellor of Lahore college for Women University, Prof Uzma Qurashi said importance of higher education for women cannot be ruled out by a nation that needed to progress.
“Women have to be well prepared for their contribution in social and economic development of the country. The impact of higher education can be felt on the person, country and on international levels and the authorized young women leaving the campus today will become the leaders of bright tomorrow. They will contribute effectively towards the social and economic development of Pakistan” she added.
Prof Qurashi said that the varsity would strengthen its faculties and will also invest in the development of quality research.
She moreover said;
“The university is establishing national and international relationships along with the industry via Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC). A devoted team of the scientists, natural and social, expert in research are working in the university to deliver research mentorship to grow best future research scholars”.
