5th three-day International Children’s Film Festival Held at University of Sindh

The University of Sindh is hosting its 5th three-day International Children’s Film Festival started on Tuesday. The festival is organized by Institute of Art & Design UoS in collaboration with The Little Art (TLA). Saeed Ahmed Mangi Director Professor of Institute of Art & Design UoS in his welcoming note said that the movies showcased in the festival have educational purpose and cover wide range of themes with moral message. The themes of movies include environment, nature, social issues, and reformation of societal behavior, education, education about human rights, gender, and prevalence of message of peace, interfaith harmony and pressing social issues.

University of Sindh (UoS) Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat in his opening remark said, ‘I was glad to know that there are 59 international standard copyright movies made, directed and produced by professionals of the world belonging from 17 countries around the world including Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Australia, United States, Iraq, Iran and several other countries from continents are being showcased for Jamshoro and suburban schools, colleges and university students to view, entertain and learn from them,”

Five movies showcased in the festival were made by students of UoS studying Art & Design courses. Chief guest Munawar Ali Mahesar congratulated UoS for organizing this festival. He expressed his amusement to learn that there were 3 minutes long duration movies and also three hours long duration movies to be projected in the festivals. He was of the view that films can be used as constructive platform to channel moral message and inculcate civil responsibility and productive behavior in children.

‘Pakistaniat’ Conference Organized by (PICSS) held at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) 

Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) organized a conference with title ‘Pakistaniat’ at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) on Tuesday. The theme of the conference was unity. The speakers at the conference emphasized that every Pakistani belonging from any province of Pakistan, regardless of his/her caste, creed, ethnicity, religion and color should share same identity which is ‘Pakistaniat’.

Students, academicians and retired army and civil officers participated in the conference. Former Pakistani High Commissioner to India Ambassador (r) Abdul Basit while addressing at the conference said that the main objective of Pakistan’s existence has still not been achieved which was equality and social justice. Furthermore he said that there is need to formulate such policies that can eliminate poverty from Pakistan and escalate economic growth. To attain this objective, we must put national interest first and personal interest at secondary position.

Chairman Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies Major General (r) M. Saad Khattak during his address said that Pakistan has potential and we have seen stories of people who have progressed in life despite their lower middle class status and reached higher echelon through dedication and efforts. Vice Chancellor FJWU Prof Dr Samina Amin Qadir emphasized female students to play their due r ole in promoting ‘Pakistaniat’. She said that female students belonging from any ethnicity, religion and sectarian background must put efforts in nation building.
