Islamabad, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering and Technology is going to conduct 14th annual All Pakistan Science Fair (APSF) today.
Various departments of several universities of the country will took part in this fair. The fair will be divided into two groups, science contest and science exhibition.
Students of various universities will display their projects on the exhibition. The science fair will continue till Jan 17.
Sindh Education Minister, Pir Mazhar ul Haq has announced on Thursday that government schools and college will have biometric/GPRS system soon.
He revealed this news while chairing a meeting of the senior representatives of the education department.
The purpose of establishment of the biometric system is to inspect the dropout rate of the students as well as the absence on the part of the teachers, minister said. He further said that primarily this system would be started in one boys and one girls school and college each at the tehsil level.
Pir Mazhar further stated that libraries of all the 268 colleges would be advanced. He revealed schools would also have up to date libraries.
The minister directed that the steps have been taken for the ongoing schemes of the education department as well as the setting up of campuses of the Sindh University and Shah Latif University in the far-flung areas of the province.
He also recommended that campus of Shah Latif University at Dharki or Ghotki. Pir Mazhar also commanded the provincial education secretary to formulate a report regarding use of solar energy in the academic institutions of the province.
He said that prime minister has ordered that all the primary schools be upgraded as elementary schools.
The meeting also suggested to establish the girls’ cadet college at Ghari Khuda Bux.
