10 engineering students get opportunity to visit Japan

Islamabad: A delegation of 10 aspirants from the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and their supervisor will be visiting Japan in the end of this month as a part of the youth exchange programme for science.

Entitled as the “Sakura Exchange Programme in Science”, it will see the aspirant visit Japan from July 22^nd, 2017 to July 30^th, 2017.

Presently, these selected aspirants are registered in PhD and Masters programmes at the NUST School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

The Ambassador of Japan Takashi Kurai said that the Sakura Exchange Programme in Science is targeted to promote the exchanges between Asian and Japanese researchers in science and technology field.

At the pre-departure ceremony at his residence where the aspirants were given their travelling documents, he said:

 “NUST is the first Pakistani varsity which has qualified for Sakura Exchange Programme.”

The Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) every year offer “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Programme in Science” (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science).

Since last year, the aspirants from six high schools had availed this chance.

Ambassador Kurai also highlighted the importance of learning new science and technology based on the knowledge in the advanced technology-led world.

He further added that Japan will continue helping Pakistan in its efforts for the human resource development which is the important to accomplishing sustainable progress as well as development.

He expected that the students from Pakistan will get an opportunity during their visit to Japan to learn and also to experience the advanced scientific and technological developments of Japan.
