Pakistan is facing serious water scarcity. It has been our problem for a long time and now time has reached that immediate measures should be taken to solve this problem otherwise Pakistan can face a serious disaster regarding water scarcity. The problem demands a sincere attention of the government for its solution. Politicians should prefer the benefit of country and nation on their political and personal benefits.

Construction of Kala Bagh Dam provides the solution of this problem. Millions of dollars have been spent on it even then we have gained nothing. Through Kala Bagh Dam

cultivation can be started on Thousands of acres in Pakistan. And it can also solve the problem of Power Crises as through it we can produce approximately Four Thousand mega watt of electricity. Instead of taking Kala Bagh Dam as a problematic or beneficial issue for any particular province, it should be considered as a progressive source and the way of future strength for the country. During last fifty years country has faced in the availability of water the shortage of 1000 cusec foot. And the capacity to store water has also reduced to a large extent and the big reason for this is that dams are getting filled with dust and mud. A survey report shows that   Mangala and Tarbela Dams are increasingly getting filled with mud and dust and in future we will pay heavy penalty for this. Pakistan immediately needs big Dams to store water which could store approximately 3.5 billion acres foot water which get wasted every year.

Kala Bagh Dam

Due to construction of Kala Bagh Dam and other dams, our agricultural industry will get boom and will become prosperous and agricultural yield will multiply to large extent as water will be available to land of 9 million hectares. With increase in yield of crops Pakistan will become self sufficient in food sector and it would not need to import food from foreign countries which will make us to save our foreign exchange. Developed countries pay lot of attention towards the construction of Dams as they know it is the source of country’s progress. They allocate heavy budgets for Dams after every four to fife years and complete the projects. India has cultivated millions acres of land in Rajhistan with construction of Bhakra Dam, we can also cultivate our barren lands through construction of Kala Bagh Dam.

Political rumors has spoiled the situation as in Sarhad, Sindh and Balochistan this image has been created that only Punjab will get the benefit of Kala Bagh Dam whereas this is not the reality because whole country will be benefited and in such national issues we should think for the benefit of Pakistan not for particular  province.

With the construction of Kala Bagh Dam, we can over come the critical problems of Power Crises, Food Crises and Water Shortage which Pakistan is facing.
