Ramzan is a holy month for Muslims. During this month the Muslims eat one meal before sunrise and one meal after sunset. People make special arrangements for meals in Ramzan. Usually the food consumed during Ramzan is high calorie in order to restore the energy loss during fasting.

Does Fasting Affect Your Health?

Many people think that Ramzan affects their health and they become weak. But in fact studies show that fasting improves health. It is fasting that helps in cleaning the intestinal tract. It reduces heart risks and improves the metabolism of sugar by the body. Fasting is also very good for brain health as it improves Neuronal Autophagy and Production of Ketones. Therefore we can say that fasting produces positive effects on health.

Some studies also show that sometimes fasting leads to dehydration, low blood pressure and sugar level. And some studies show that there is no effect on human health due to fasting. Sometimes people face gastric problems and acidity during fasting days.

These problems come due to the change in the eating habits and sleep routines. All these factors affect the overall health of people. But with proper diet plan, that can be overcome.

Foods To Eat And Avoid

There must be healthy eating during Ramzan. These are hot days and special food must be eaten during Ramzan to stay healthy. You must eat fresh food instead of junk and processed food because they are unhealthy. Food like chips and other junk food must also be avoided. Prefer eating fruits and vegetables which are a good source of vitamins and other nutritional items. White flour is also not good for health instead you should consume whole grain flour. Similarly use whole grain bread instead of white bread. You should consume those things which can hydrate your body in a better way because this is a summer time and fasting may cause dehydration. Avoid eating fried as well as spicy food. Eat watermelon more and other fresh juices. Although samaosas and pakoras are our traditional food for Ramzan but they are not good to eat in summer, therefore it is better to eat baked food instead of fried ones.

Eating At Sahar & Iftaar Timings

• Sahar Timing Food
You can eat Fruits, juices, milk, porridge, bread, nuts and whole grain cereals etc. at Sahar timing. These are good for health and you will remain healthy as well as active throughout your day.

• Iftaar Timing Food
You can Iftaar with dates and fresh juices followed by healthy dinner. The dinner may include chicken, baked fish, vegetables and salads. If you want to eat any sweet dish you can add plain cake etc.

Exercise During Ramzan

Some people think that exercising during Ramzan is not good but maintaining an exercise routine does not produce any negative effect on health. It is rather good for body but make sure you don’t intensify the exercise. But those who have diabetes must avoid exercise because it may disturb their glucose level.
