Admissions: MPhil & PhD in Medical Laboratory Sciences – Spring 2025

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into MPhil and PhD Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) programs for the Spring 2025 session.

How to Apply:

1. Interested candidates must fill out the online admission form available on the KMU Portal: https://pgadmissions.kmu.edu.pk.
2. Upload all relevant documents before the closing date.
3. Deposit a fee of Rs. 3000/- through the bank challan generated after online registration and upload the scanned copy of the deposit slip along with the application.
4. For further details regarding eligibility criteria and required documents, visit the KMU Portal.

Programs Offered & Eligibility Criteria:

1. PhD in Medical Laboratory Sciences

Eligibility Requirements:

• Option A:

  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (16 years) with MPhil/MS (18 years) in any of the following fields:
    • Medical Laboratory Sciences
    • Biochemistry
    • Molecular Biology
    • Microbiology
    • Hematology
    • Biotechnology
    • Blood Banking / Transfusion Medicine
    • Immunology
    • Human Genetics

• Option B:

  • Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology (14 years) with:
    • M.Sc. (16 years) AND
    • MPhil (18 years) in any of the following fields:
      • Medical Laboratory Technology
      • Hematology
      • Virology
      • Human Genetics
      • Blood Transfusion
      • Microbiology
      • Biochemistry
      • Molecular Biology
      • Biotechnology

• Minimum Academic Requirement:

  • CGPA: 3.00/4.00 (semester system) OR 60% marks (annual system).

Test Requirement:

• Institutional Graduate Entry Test (IGET) with a minimum passing grade of 70%
  OR
• GRE Subject Test with a minimum passing grade of 60% according to the following template:
  • English: 15%
  • Analytical: 15%
  • Subject-Specific: 70%

2. MPhil in Medical Laboratory Sciences

Eligibility Requirements:

• BS MLT (16 years) OR BSc MLT (14 years) with M.Sc. (16 years) in one of the following fields:

  • Medical Laboratory Technology
  • Biochemistry
  • Microbiology
  • Biotechnology
  • Molecular Biology
  • Hematology
  • Blood Banking

• Minimum Academic Requirement:

  • CGPA: 2.50/4.00 (semester system) OR 60% marks (annual system).

Test Requirement:

• GAT General Test with a minimum passing grade of 50%
  OR
• Institutional Graduate Entry Test (IGET) with a minimum passing grade of 60% according to the following template:
  • English: 15%
  • Analytical: 15%
  • Subject-Specific: 70%
