Weekend Programme

The Applied Economics Research Centre (AERC), University of Karachi, is announcing admissions for its 13th Annual Session of the M.S./M.Phil. programme for the Fall session of 2025-26. AERC is a prestigious research and teaching institute in Pakistan, specializing in advanced training in applied economics since 1979. The programme is designed to prepare students for careers in research organizations, academic institutions, financial and banking sectors, development agencies, and the private sector.

Graduates of AERC are employed in high-level positions in renowned organizations such as The World Bank, UNDP, State Bank of Pakistan, universities, and the private sector.

Eligibility Criteria

Degree Requirements:
Applicants must have a Master's degree or a 4-year Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:

Economics

Economics and Finance

Business Administration

Commerce

Mathematics

Statistics
Or any related equivalent degree from an HEC recognized university/institution with at least 2nd Division.

Equivalence Certificate:
Applicants with degrees from institutions other than public-sector universities in Pakistan must submit an Equivalence Certificate issued by the Equivalence Committee of the University of Karachi.

Candidates Awaiting Results:
Candidates who are awaiting their final exam results can also apply, but they will be required to submit their final transcript before the commencement of the second quarter of the programme.

Admission Test Requirement:
Eligible candidates must qualify for an admission test. The test will be based on the GAT (Subject) conducted by NTS or the GRE (Advanced Economics) test scores from the last two years may be accepted in lieu of the test.

Saturday: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Sunday: 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

The Admission Test will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the Applied Economics Research Centre, University of Karachi at 10:30 AM sharp.

How to Apply

Application Form:
The completed application must be submitted on the prescribed application form, which is available on AERC's website or can be obtained from the Graduate Studies Programme Office at AERC.

Application Fee:
The application fee is Rs. 5000 and must be paid via CASH or PAYORDER only, in favor of AERC Evening Program.

Submission Deadline:
The completed application must be received by September 15, 2025.
