UVAS gets Rs 400m research grant

Lahore, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) has got grant of Rs 400 million. The grant has been allocated for 43 research programs for the year 2012-13.

UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Mehmood Pasha stated that 26 projects are international and 16 are national among the 43 projects. Recently an Assistant Professor at UVAS, Dr Muhammad Imran Rashid has also got Rs 10.925 million grant from “Grand Challenges Canada” for research project. The research project was on the topic “Development of toxoplasma multi-protein sub-unit vaccine and their experiment trials in mouse model administered internationally with triad of antigens formulated in nanoparticles”.

The UVAS is also collaborating with four international universities including Penensalvania State University, Jackson State Universities, Michigan and University of Connecticut of USA under US Ministry of Science and Technology has got Rs 200 million for four projects.

UVAS VC said Punjab Agriculture Research Board has also given grant of Rs 80 million for five research projects. The UVAS annual budget for the year 2012-13 was Rs 470 million.

Meanwhile, University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Lahore has declared MPhil & PhD admissions at Lahore campus, Ravi campus, Pattoki and Jhang campus.

Applicants are eligible for admission in MPhil if they have 16 years education or 4 years education after HSSC/F.A/ FSC or equivalent with minimum 2nd division with 50% marks according to annual system or minimum CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0 according to semester system from a recognized university in related field of study. Candidates will have to clear GAT Test by NTS before the last date of submission of applications.

Eligibility criteria for PhD admission is, the candidate must have M.Sc  (Hons) /MPhil degre in related field of study with minimum of first division according to annual system or not less than CGAP 3.00/4.00 according to semester system from HEC recognized universities. Candidates will have to clear GRE subject test.
