UVAS awarded degrees to 1,101 graduates in its 8th convocation

Lahore: The 8th convocation of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore was organized on Thursday when 1,101 students received their degrees.

The Governor of Punjab Rafique Rajwana presided over the ceremony.

During his address at the convocation, he congratulated the graduating students on their degrees and medals. He said that it was their turn to contribute to the building and development of nation. He urged girl students to not sit at home after getting their degrees and asked them to join their respective fields.

Among 1,101 graduates, 220 students of DVMs, 238 students of BS (Hons), 80 students of Pharm-D, 39 students of MBA, 16 students of MBA (Executive), 22 students of MBF, 45 students of BBA (Hons), 135 students of Msc, 270 students of MPhil while 36 PhDs candidates received degrees. Also, 44 position holders were awarded along with medals.

The Vice Chancellor of UVAS Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha spoke about the academics, research, development, extension programmes as well as the community services of the varsity.

He said that along with the history of 134 years of excellence, UVAS has now positioned itself among top ten universities of Pakistan in academics and in sports and 2nd in agriculture/veterinary category.

He said that the UVAS was swiftly attaining the milestones of need-based multi-level education and developing talent development institution by utilizing its knowledge, resources and the abilities for the growth of human resource.

He furthermore added that UVAS had been recognized as a hub of professional development in wide-ranging regions, including veterinary and animal sciences, animal production and technology, biotechnology, microbiology, pharmaceutical sciences, food as well as nutrition sciences, environmental sciences, economics and business management.

“Presently, the UVAS faculty members are executing 87 research projects whereas the total number of research articles in journals along with the impact factor had surpassed 400.
