SMIU to conduct pre-entry test on Nov 18

Karachi, Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) is going to organize admission test for five departments, Media Studies, Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Education and Computer Science, on November 18 in its premises.

In this respect, a meeting of the dean of faculties of SMIU was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor of SMIU Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, in which all the necessary arrangements were studied in detail.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Shaikh said that it was a historic phase of the SMIU’s history, spread over 127 years, that that a first batch of talented students was being selected for the University., where founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other great leaders, intellectuals and professionals had received their education. He said that SMIU will set new examples of success in future upholding its glorious past.

He said admissions at SMIU will be given purely on merit basis, but some talented students, belonging to poor families of the province will also be given a chance to study at this historic institution.

Sindh Assembly passed the Sindh Madressatul Islam University Act on December 22, 2011 giving standing ovation to the institution and its founder for services rendered. After Assenting to the Bill, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan handed over the charter of Sindh Madressatul Islam University and letter of his appointment as its first Vice Chancellor to Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
With this Sindh Madressatul Islam began its journey as a university by establishing initially six departments with highly qualified and experienced teaching staff, about half of whom are PhDs.

The basic goal of the SMI University is to provide students an opportunity to gain thorough understanding of their chosen fields of education through both study and practice. The University aims to foster a dialogue among academics, industry and other segments of society in order to fill gaps and build bridges with ultimate aim of serving the humanity. With all this background, SMI University is poised to set its mark on the educational horizon of Pakistan.
