Punjab Government offering international scholarships for PhD scholars

Lahore: The government of Punjab has launched a scholarship programme entitled as “Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarship” (SSMU) under which the eligible male as well as female candidates, according to the set criteria by the government set for this scheme from time to time will be awarded PhD level scholarships to study at the top ranked universities across the world.

For now, the government is inviting the applications from the interested eligible candidates for PhD scholarships.

Deadline:

Candidates are required to submit the completely filled application forms till March 31^st, 2017 at Manager international scholarships, PEEF office Link Wahdat road Lahore.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students who meet the given eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

1.       Valid PhD admission offer from one of the Top 50 (Subject Wise) Universities of the World (QS ranking) in preferred subject regions

2.       Not less than 60 percent marks throughout the academic career.

3.       Stated monthly family income (including self, spouse as well as parents) is equal to or less than Rs. 200,000/- (2 lac)

4.       Maximum age of 35 years on March 31^st, 2017

5.       Not received any foreign scholarship in the past.

6.       Must take up the scholarship in the year for which it is offered and the scholarship shall not be postponed to the next year.

7.       All Pakistani residents, both males and females are eligible to apply.

Note: Existing permanent / regular faculty members of government sector teaching / educational institutes of Pakistan are not eligible to apply for Shahbaz Sharif Merit Scholarships (SSMS).

This scholarship will cover the following costs:

1.       Complete tuition fee of the Degree Course

2.       Boarding & Lodging (According to the approved rates)

3.       Air Fare

Allocation of the scholarships will be as follows:

1.       80 percent scholarships are reserved for science disciplines

2.       20 percent scholarships are reserved for Social Sciences/Humanities & Arts.

Geographical distribution of scholarships will be as follows:

1.       90 percent scholarships will be awarded to the Punjab students.

2.       10 percent scholarships has been allocated for the other federating units of Pakistan.
