PU establishes National Centre for Resettlement and Rehabilitation

Lahore, Punjab University has set up National Centre for Resettlement and Rehabilitation (NCRR) at Institute of Social and Cultural Studies with the support of World Bank. The center would helpful to conduct academic research, arrange training programs and deliver policy guidelines for the relocation and restoration challenges challenged by development induced involuntary displacements in Pakistan.

A delegation comprised of World Bank Development Specialist Mr. Chaohua Zhang, along with Dean Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Director ISCS Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zakria Zakar, NESPK’s Environment and Resettlement specialist Mr. Irfan-ul-Haq and other faculty members of ISCS visited Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran at in his office. The VC said that PU is not only an academic institution but has a distinguish value to handle the development needs and challenges of the Pakistani society. The VC also presented the university mementos to the participants.

Government College University Faisalabad, Layyah Campus is going to introduce Distance Learning Programs. The decision was taken in the eleventh meeting of the Academic Council, GCUF. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zakir Hussain chaired the meeting.
 
The meeting was attended by the Registrar Muhammad Ayub, GCUF Deans Dr Muhammad Shahbaz Arif, Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi, Dr Hafeez-ur-Rehman Tahir, Dr Pervez Azeem, Senior Advisor HR Shiekh Akram, Director Admin Muhammad Mushtaq and other head of departments, directors. The vice chancellor further said that GCUF main campus (Faisalabad campus) is already offering distance learning programs.

He expressed his views that distance learning education is getting great value in the current scenario to increase the development process. He said distance learning supports to handle the increasing demand of education. The university is ranked sixth best university of the country and is working to enhance the research culture to meet the demand of modern era.

He further said that the new campus would be completed within two years which would be helpful to boost the increasing enrolments at the campus. The meeting also approved new Associate Degree Programs.
