Lahore, Punjab University Department of Applied Psychology held an impressive ceremony to celebrate its 50 years of establishment and hosted a lunch in the honour of ICAPP delegates at IBA lawns late on Monday.
PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran, Department of Applied Psychology Chairperson Prof Dr Rukhsana Kausar, former chairpersons Prof Dr Raafia Hasan and Prof Dr Hamid, Prof Dr Shaukat Ali, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar, renowned politician Riaz Fatyana, faculty members and a large number of students were present on this occasion.
The students presented mime show, music performance on flute and guitar, parody of a famous comic show at a private TV channel and a drama based on elections to make the event colourful and memorable and delighted the audience.
Prof Dr Raafia Hasan and Prof Dr Hamid shared their memories while addressing the participants. Dr Rukhsana Kaushar prayed for further progress of the department. Later, cake cutting ceremony was held.
The International Conference on Applied Psychology (ICAPP) were conducted by Department of Applied Psychology in collaboration with Psychology Subcommittee of HEC’s Committee for the Development of Social Science and Humanities in Pakistan (CDSSHP) under the theme of “Psychology and Challenges of the Modern World” continued on second day at Undergraduate Study Centre, Punjab University.
Research from Pakistan, UK, USA, Singapore and India, senior faculty members and a large number of students participated in the sessions. The first session was presided over by Prof. Jitendra Mohan, MA, Ph.D, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, Punjab University, Chandigarh, India and President of International Society on Excellence in Sports Psychology, and Prof. Farhana Jehangir. Overall six papers were presented related to area of Positive Psychology.
The second session was chaired by Prof. Manju Mehta, President of Indian Association of Clinical Psychologists and Dr. Nasar Khan Syed, Associate professor & head of the Department of Psychiatry, Services Institute of Medical Sciences. The third was chaired by Prof. Meena Sehgal, Director of Population Research Centre and Professor of the Department of Psychology, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India and Dr. Iffat Dar, professor at National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad.
Overall four presenters presented their papers related to area of Scale Development. The fourth session was chaired by Prof. Kausar Sohail, Professor in Department of Psychology, GC University, Lahore & Dr. Altaf Qadir, University of Peshawar. Four papers were presented related to area of Psychosexual Issues. The seventh session was chaired by Professor Rafia Hassan, former chairperson of PU Department of Applied Psychology.
