Lahore: Provincial Zakat Council has issued the funds of Rs 10.4 million for offering the scholarships to deserving students of educational institutes and seminaries for the academic year 2015-16. Almost 4795 deserving students of 14 districts of the province will get benefit of these scholarships.
This decision was taken in the 163rd meeting of Provincial Zakat Council that was headed by the former chairperson Justice Akhtar Hassan, on Tuesday.
Secretary Zakat & Usher Muhammad Hassan Iqbal, Manager Zakat Punjab Muhammad Yousaf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat (Field) Muhammad Sajjad Babar and Members of the Council Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Hafiz Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Saeed Ahmed Ansari, Mohtarma Tanvir Kausar besides Saeeda Maleeka, Additional Secretary, Muhammad Shabbir Bhatti, Deputy Secretary, representatives, Secretary Finance Department Punjab Government and Local Government & Community Development also attended the meeting.

Provincial Zakat Council issued Rs 7.7 million for 1504 male and female aspirants of 46 educational institutes of 9 districts comprising of Attock, Rajanpur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Khushab, Chiniot, Bahawalnagar, Sheikhupura and Kasur while 6.9 million rupees have been issued for 3291 boy and girl aspirants of 21 religious schools of 5 districts involving Attock, Rajanpur, Vehari, Sialkot and Kasur for the academic year 2015-16.
The chairperson of Provincial Zakat Council and Secretary Zakat Punjab Muhammad Hassan Iqbal directed Manager Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt to ensure the instant distribution of these scholarships among the students.
