PM Yusuf Raza announces 2011 as 'Education Year'

Lahore, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf RazaGilani has announced that year 2011 would be celebrated as 'Education Year'.

Addressing the convocation of University of Engineering and Technology (UET) here on Saturday, he said an orphan was not a child whose parents had died, but a man who had no knowledge.

"Education can change the destiny of the Pakistani nation, that is why the present democratic government has prioritized the development of this vital sector," he added.

Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated the UET Auditorium Complex on the campus. Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, State Minister for Education Ghulam Farid Khathia, Parliamentary Secretary for Education Gul Muhammad Jakhhrani and UET VC Muhammad Akram Khan were also present.
