Islamabad: Waqas Ali, a Pakistani student belonging to Ghotki district, has won his second bronze medal at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2016 (MOSCW).

He won this medal for his knowledge in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (for Office 2013) together with the cash prize of $1500.

This time, other Pakistani aspirants named Shahzaib Ishaq has also won a bronze medal as wella s cash prize of $1000, for his knowledge about Microsoft Office 2010.

Total 6 students from Pakistan participated in Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2016. The remaining 3 partakers were placed amongst the top 10 in the competitive world of Microsoft Olympics.

About Microsoft World Championship

Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship is a competition at international level that checks the abilities of students in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint (2010 or 2013). Just brilliant aspirants are invited to represent their own countries at this World Championship. Partakers have to train very hard to compete in the Championship.

It is also not different for Pakistani candidates. The aspirants from all over Pakistan are prepped for Microsoft Office Specialist certification where the top 118 students are nominated for the national championship. The event for the selection of best Pakistani aspirants was organized in Islamabad in June this year.

The top six selected candidates went on to make the international Pakistani team and competed at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship in Orlando, Florida which took place between (August 7th- August10th).

The winner of this competition, Shahzaib Ishaq wearing white and green Shalwar Kameez said:


I read 3 or 4 books on Microsoft Word and utilized two different software programs for the preparation of this competition.


This event actually shows that there is enough hidden talent in Pakistan and that educational institutes and the government should promote it to help them noticed round about the world. After all, 6 of the Pakistani candidates made it to the top 10 ranking for Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.
