Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in association along with Higher Education Commission (HEC) will award almost 25 need-cum-merit based scholarships of worth 37 million rupees to the students of International Islamic University, Islamabad campus.
A launching ceremony for the proclamation of the award of 260 scholarships to the different universities was organized at OGDCL.

Under the supervision of this prgramme, OGDCL will provide half of the scholarships to the 8 government sector engineering universities, while the remaining will be awarded to Quaid-e-Azam University and International Islamic University Islamabad in other disciplines during the academic session 2016-2017.
Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was the chief guest of the MoU signing ceremony which was also attended by the chairperson of HEC Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Rector of IIUI Dr Masoom Yasinzai, President of IIUI Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, and Managing Director of OGDCL Zahid Mir as well as by the other officials of IIU.

While addressing on the ceremony, Abbasi said that funds worth Rs 141 million will be spent on the award of scholarships, adding that almost 70 scholarships will be given to the vocational training of poverty-stricken students.
The leadership of IIUI appreciated the step and thanked OGDCL and HEC high ups for awarding these scholarships to the university.
