Islamabad, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) has decided to start ‘Education through Information Communication Technology (ICT)’ Program to instruct the masses online who are between 9-90 years old.
Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (ST & I) 2012 will manage this program sand will be free of cost for everyone who wants to learn.
Pakistan Council for Science and Technology ( PCST) Chairperson Dr. Mudasir Asrar while expressing his views said every citizen either he is 9 or 90, now will have access to education free of cost, even without going to school.
The program is planned to be as an online program and everyone will be able to get education even matric, by availing online courses and CDs, he added.
Dr. Mudasir further said that we have brilliant people and the only need is to guide them and provide a platform where they can show their abilities. He said it will be beneficial to bring revolution in the country and will help to increase literacy level.
Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi said that university is going to conduct online classes of Computer Science in Umerkot and DG Khan regions from January 8. He declared this after laying foundation stone of ‘Bachelor and Foreign Faculty Hostel’ at the university.
The hostel would be established in an area of 43000sft with a cost of Rs139 million. The 5-story building is planned to be finished in 21 months. He emphasized on the need of education and said that without getting education nations cannot made progress.
He said that regional campuses and model study centres have been established while through ‘Educate a Child’ schemeone million children would be registered and target would be attained by June next, he said.
He further said that AIOU is working hard to consume talent and resources to enlarge and firming educational network in the country. Vice-Chancellor Gomal University, Professor Dr Mansoor Akbar Kundi praised the development of educational facilities.
