Lahore, The management of Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) has is going to allocate 5 Malala Yusafzae Scholarships for its students from Balochistan.
These golden scholarships include hostel accommodation as well. Vice Chancellor Dr.Sabiha Mansoor has instructed the scholarship committee of LCWU to be positive and categorize students from remote areas so it can be assured that they are not only facilitated through scholarships but in any way that the University can provide an enabling environment.
She further said that we are trying our best to support needy students specially who belong to remote areas to access higher education. Not because of any orders this is part of LCWU vision, mission and belief. This year LCWU scholarship committee has already awarded rupees 26 millions of scholarships to deserving students.
She highlighted that our records inform us that currently there are only two students from Balochistan and they did not apply for scholarships. In a statement, vice chancellors has clarified that at times of admissions LCWU shares information about scholarships with contiguous tables of scholarship forms and instructed admission staff to eliminate the application form fees for those needy students who are on merit. Director students’ affairs LCWU Shireen Asad told that we have never refused scholarships to even a single student who applied for it.
Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) was established in May 1922 as an intermediate residential college at Hall Road Lahore. In 1950, it was shifted to the present building at Jail Road Lahore.
On 1st August 1990 the college was given administrative and financial autonomy and in August 1999 given the status of degree awarding institute and this was upgraded to the level of university in September 2002. The university has more than 7800 students’ enrollment and up to 450 faculty members.
