Karachi University awards EMEA scholarships

Karachi, The Erasmus Mundus Europe Asia scholarships have been awarded to 10 candidates of Karachi University. The scholarships have been awarded to pursue higher education in European universities.  The scholarships have been awarded to Sidra Rehman, Arsalan Ali, Fatima Tanveer, Mahrukh Siddiqui, Dr Syed Musharraf, Dr Mohammad Sohail, Meher Hassan, Rubab Maqsood, Uzma Urooj Malik and Adil Shakeel Ahmed. They are working at the office of KU Dean, Faculty of Science.

On the scholarships distribution ceremony the KU VC Prof. Dr Muhammad Qaiser  said that Karachi University is among the old universities in Pakistan and imparting educational service and higher level and as well as in the field of research and enjoying the status of top and leading institution. He further said that all the scholarships awardees will act as ambassadors of Pakistan and represent the status of Pakistan in foreign universities. The university will continue such facilities for capable and deserving students of KU.

The controller of Erasmus Mundus Scholarship Program, Prof. Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi said that these scholarships are being sponsored by European Union and students, teachers, researchers and University staff both academic and administrative are also included in this project. 

Meanwhile, KU Businees School has extended the last date for submission of application forms MBA Executive program. Now the form and fee can be deposited till June 07, 2013.

The University of Karachi was established in June, 1951. The present campus is established on 1279 acres of land, situated 12 Km away from the city center.

Today University is recognized as a leading center of learning and research in the Subcontinent and in the Third World. A number of scientists and scholars affiliated with the University are working in important positions both within and outside Pakistan and have won gratitude and acclaim.

The University has made the Centre of the Third World Academy of Sciences and got distinction in this regard. Students from several foreign countries are also pursuing for the Masters and Doctorate degrees. A large number of students from Karachi and other parts of the country apply for admission here because of its better academic and research principles.

The University has started evening classes in several departments at BS and Masters Levels and a Directorate of Evening Program was established to control and run Evening Program.
