Islamabad, The broadband internet connectivity will be provided to around 600 public colleges all over the country by Higher Education Commission (HEC). This scheme will be done by provincial government while the main contributor will be Higher Education Commission. At present around 183 higher education institutions have broadband internet connectivity.
As this project will be launched a large number of students of Pakistan will be able to have After this plan is implemented, students in Pakistan will approach the HEC preserved digital library and collections.
Meanwhile, HEC has also introduced a computerized system of document attestation and every year over 200,000 educational documents being attested. The HEC Chairman Dr Javaid R Laghari expressed his views and said that universities are the main source of knowledge and it can improve the country’s condition and growth and improve the living standards.
The video conferencing facility has been given at 79 sites which are located in 32 cities across the country. This facility is also useful in the field of telemedicine and agriculture field research accompanied by collaborating meetings and lectures produced under the Virtual Education Program Pakistan. Until now over 2,554 educational events comprising of workshops, presentations, PhD defense, and lectures have been transmitted over this advanced and modern facility.
Meanwhile, Students of Government College University Faisalabad to get scholarships of Rs 23 million which would be provided by Higher Education Commission with the support of World Bank. Vice Chancellor of GC University Faisalabad Zakir Hussain was chairing a meeting at the financial aid office of the students and revealed this news by saying that this initiative will support over 214 students.
