HEC overseas scholarships 2013 MS leading to PhD program

Islamabad, Higher Education Commission has started Overseas Scholarships 2013 HR Development Initiative, MS leading to PhD Program of faculty Development for universities of engineering science and technology.

Applications are invited from outstanding Pakistani nationals for the award of scholarships in the various fields for Masters leading to PhD/ PhD.

Applications must be received in the office of Project Director (HRDI UESTPs) till April 01, 2013.

Scholarships are invited for these mentioned countries: Germany, Italy, Belgium, Hong Kong, Turkey, France, South Korea, China, University of New Mexico, Florida State University (USA), University of Glasgow UK.

Minimum Eligibility criteria is:

1.    Pakistani nationals/AJK nationals.
2.    Candidates must have a minimum of sixteen (16) years of education in Engineering / Social Sciences (as mentioned in other disciplines list) Discipline for MS leading to PhD and eighteen (18) years of education for PhD in Engineering / Social Sciences (as mentioned in other disciplines list) Discipline with a first division or 2.5/4 CGPA or 3.5/5 scores whichever is applicable.
3.    For Engineering Disciplines, applicant must provide the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) registration certificate.
4.    A maximum of two second-division passes throughout the academic career prior to the final degree (refer to Clause No. 2.)
5.    Not less than 50% marks throughout the academic career.
6.    Maximum age on 31.03.2013 should be 35 years for all others and 40 years for full time regular faculty members of public sector Universities / Colleges and employees of the public sector R&D organizations.
7.    Candidates must have acquired the requisite academic qualifications on / or before 31.03.2013.
8.    Candidates who already hold any other HEC scholarship offer are not eligible to apply.

All the scholarships will be awarded on the basis of provincial quota, IELTS / TOFEL (with at least 7.0 Bands) for Turkey, Germany (as and when required), UK and for Florida State University, University of New Mexico. GRE (International), as per requirement for Turkish Universities, Florida State University, University of New Mexico USA.

Candidates must have a final degree in a relevant field of study. Candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their academics and GAT/GRE scores and will be called for interviews. Awardees will also have to execute a bond with the HEC to serve in Pakistani Universities for a minimum of five years after completion of their study. HEC will initiate the admission process.

The following documents are required to be submitted along with the printed copy of online application form:
•    Photocopies of all educational testimonials

•    Degrees of (Bachelors and Masters) BS / BE / BSc, MS / Msc (in Engineering discipline or related as per the other disciplines)
•    Photocopy of CNIC, Front Page of Passport and Domicile (mandatory)
•    Purpose of interest in higher studies (One page)
•    Copy of PEC Registration
•    Research Proposal Abstract (applicants having 18 years of education)
•    Copy of GAT (General)/GRE (lntemational)/IELTS/TOFELscore result card
•    In-Service (only for Government employees) candidates need to apply through proper channels with assurance from their employer that if scholarship will be awarded, they will be released immediately and after completion of the studies, they will serve at Pakistan public universities. Advance copies will be accepted however NOC from the organization must be provided before March 31, 2013.
•    Original deposit slip / Bank Draft / ATM Transfer Slip of Rs.200/- as application processing fee in favour of Director General Finance, HEC can be deposited at Habib Bank limited, on Account Number 0112-00500119-01 or 1742-79001334-01.

Printed copy of online Application Form completed in all respects should reach the undersigned latest by Monday1st April, 2013 through registered mail or courier service. By hand / incomplete (in any respect)/application received after due date will not be entertained.
