HEC grants approval to Pakistan Technology Council

Islamabad, Higher Education Commission HEC has granted approval for establishment of the Pakistan Technology Council in the 27th session of the Higher Education Commission. The council would be able to approve the degree programs of universities.
 
The commission would also reduce its services in order to promote information technology. Pakistan Engineering Council and Business Computing and Pharmacy are already working in the country.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has also approved the higher educational status of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Liyari (BBSUL) and allowed it for offering admissions in fall Semester-2012.

BBSUL Registrar Dr Mehboob Shaikh stated that the admissions would be granted as per admission policy approved by syndicate. The entry test would be conducted on November 28 at the main campus of University at Liyari. The merit list would be displayed on November 30 while last date to deposit fees would be December 10, 2012 and classes would be commenced from 12th December, 2012.

Sheikh informed that the admission test and interviews would be conducted for 5 departments namely Commerce, English, Computer Sciences, Business Administration and Education against 250 seats in 5 departments.

Meanwhile, the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Liyari had received 400 admission forms. The student expressed their views and said that HEC’s recognition of the university had opened new door of opportunities for having higher education.

After removal of Urdu from list of compulsory subjects for students of pharmacy and commerce Higher Education Commission (HEC) removed national language from list of compulsory subjects for science students.

An official of HEC, who wished not to mention his name, told that HEC has removed the national language from list of compulsory subjects for students of science faculty. HEC has uploaded the approved syllabus for students of science faculty and the Urdu, which was taken as a compulsory for graduates, was not in the list of compulsory subjects, he added.

In new syllabus for faculty of science students, the HEC has added some more subjects of English in list of compulsory subjects but it has removed Urdu from the list, he maintained.
