These days education is declining in our country and this is a well-known fact, and for this reason, the Federal Government has decided to set up universities focusing the backwards regions such as Gilgit Baltistan and Balochistan and more.
The higher education commission of Pakistan will establish 10 universities in the country from the Government Sector Development Program funds during the years of 2016-2017.
A new university named as the University of Baltistan will be established in the region to serve the requirements of the local inhabitants.
For the time being there is just Karakoram International University established there since 2002, and it is the only degree awarding institution in that region.

As for the province of Balochistan, the two universities will be set up there called the University of Sibi and the University of Gwadar.
After the establishment of these two, the total number of universities in the region will reach 10.
In 2017, the National Skills University, the Federal Women University, and the University of Central Asia and Pakistan would be set up in the Islamabad Capital Territory.

Several of them are going to be established in the area of Bahawalpur, including a Bahawalpur Institute of Science and Technology, an engineering university just similar to the National University of Science and Technology and the University of Engineering Technology.
An Agriculture University in Dera Ismail Khan will also be established soon.
Finally a sub-campus of the University of Science and Technology, Bannu will be upgraded to the full-fledged university.
Furthermore, HEC has also planned to set up a federal university in Hyderabad, Sindh.
