Faisalabad, The Government College University Faisalabad has introduced Hazrat Sultan Bahu corner at its main library to highlight the doctrine and message of spiritual poet among the students and society.
GCUF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zakir Hussain along with Sultan Ahmad Ali, a successor of Hazrat Sultan Bahu, initiated the Bahu’s corner whereas faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning Dean Prof Dr Tahir Tounsvi, Chief Librarian Muhammad Ashfaq, Punjabi Department Chairman Dr Riaz Shahid, Islamiat Department Chairman Dr Humayun Abbas, Khurram Qureshi, other officials and students were present.
The Vice Chancellor in his address emphasized the need to enhance doctrine of the saint among people and get the guidelines from his life and campaigning to become a good Muslim. He insisted the students to follow the teaching of Sufis to find a path to strengthening link with Allah.
Sultan Ahmad Ali said GCUF had taken the lead in organizing the corner and Bahu’s Chair across the globe. Prof Dr Tounsvi said the corner will help students to study the saint and brighten their hearts with his message.
Later, the Vice Chancellor inaugurated Faiz Ahmad Faiz’s corner established at the library. Meanwhile, Institute of Research, Food Science and Technology Iran and GC University Faisalabad Department of Food Science have joined hands to work together on research. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was inked by GCUF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zakir Hussain and Iranian Institute Director Dr Merzieh Hussaini Nazhad.
GC University, Faisalabad has arisen as a leading center of learning and research in a short span of time. The University with its dynamic faculty and innovative syllabi has become a catalyst of intellectual, social and industrial change. It caters to the diverse needs of society by imparting education in almost all the major fields of learning.
The GC University’s journey started as a primary school in 1897 in the present building of Govt. College for Women, Karkhana Bazar, Faisalabad. It was promoted to High School and Intermediate College in 1905 and 1924 respectively.
It was raised to the degree level in 1933 and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1963. The long journey that started with the humble beginning reached its climax when it was granted the status of University in October 2002.
