Free education programme launched for children of brick-kiln workers by PEF

Punjab Education foundation (PEF) has unveiled a project for the education of brick-kiln workers in the districts including Multan, Muzaffargarh as well as Lodhran. This project will be run under the supervision of the New School Programme (NSP).

As per the representative of Punjab Education foundation, the project will be run through the companion NGOs who would open primary schools in the targeted zones to deliver the free of cost education to the children of brick-kiln workers as well as the other low-income families of the zone. Free of cost textbooks will be given to the aspirants whereas Punjab Education Foundation will give monthly reward of Rs 550 each student at primary level to the associated schools.

This project is targeted to assist the needy societies to send their children to the schools without being burdened even a little bit. The representative of PEF moreover said that, New School Programme was revealed in 2008 to allure the private zone tycoons to establish the schools in the distant as well as the remote regions of the province where government as well as private sector schools are scarce or even not present.

At the same time, MD-designate of Punjab Education Foundation Tariq Mahmood on Wednesday visited the head office and arranged a casual meeting along with the heads of pprhramme. The chairperson of Punjab Education foundation Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja officially welcomed Tariq Mahmood and presumed that his presence will more advance the main mission of education-promotion in the low income families.
