Lahore: There has been much controversy regarding the dual degree program of COMSATS that the university is offering in association with the Lancaster University. Last year, the higher education commission of Pakistan, declared that this degree was useless and that the academic futures of the students were at risk.

On this issue, there was a case registered against COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) and this case had its first hearing yesterday, on June 16th, 2016.
The parties involved in the case were CIIT, HEC, as well as Pakistan Legal Commission. The case is being heard by Justice Shahid Kamran who postponed the case till June 29th, 2016 after hearing arguments from the three parties.
On June 29th, 2016, the 3 involved bodies will present their arguments again in Lahore High Court (LHC) to decide what will be happen with COMSATS dual degree program.
