Karachi, Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) has declared to present gold medal among position holders and need based scholarships for Dow college of Pharmacy.
Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has initiated its 6th batch of Pharm D Session 2013 at Dow College of Pharmacy (DCOP).
Javed Akhai, Chairman, Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association PPMA was the Chief Guest whereas Dr. Kaiser Waheed, Former Chairman, PPMA was the Guest of Honor.
Senior faculty members including Prof. Dr. M. Umer Farooq, Pro Vice Chancellor, DUHS, Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal, Dow College of Pharmacy, Dr. Haroon Qasim, CEO, PharmEvo, Mr. Muneer Anwar, and CEO Martin Dow were present on this occasion.
Javed Akhai said that process of the teaching and learning methods is successful at Dow University. He declared to awar one gold medal for the top position holder of Dow College of Pharmacy every year and scholarships for needy students. He also assured full support for the future development of the college building.
Prof. M. Umer Farooq, Pro Vice Chancellor, DUHS welcomed the students of the new batch. He said DUHS is working hard to deliver facilities to students to meet the international standards.
Prof. Dr. Sumbul Shamim, Principal, Dow College of Pharmacy gave a brief summary of Dow College of Pharmacy in her welcome address. She said that DCOP had been established to provide highly modest pharmaceutical education to its students.
Dawood College of Engineering and Technology (DCET), Karachi will have university status soon and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has accepted the summary in this regard.
According to the DCET statement, summary was forwarded to the CM Sindh for approval on Nov 1, 2011, and chief executive of Sindh has granted an approval.
However, the bill would be presented in the coming session of the Sindh Assembly.
The Dawood College was transferred to the Sindh government after the 18th Amendment.
