Cultural gala begins at GCUF

Faisalabad, The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) is going to start a two day cultural and fundraising gala from Wednesday (today).

Exciting events including Jhumar party, Laal bands, Heer singing party, theatre and Qawali will be performed at the event. The event will be supportive for Students Advancement Endowment Fund (SAEF) for scholarships to handle the financial crises of needy and deprived students.

GCUF VC Prof Dr Zakir Hussain has asked the officials to make sure all the arrangements have been made. He said SAEF is ensuring to deliver financial support to deserving students to continue their studies and train them with higher education. He acknowledged the measures taken by the Higher Education Commission for 10,000 M Phil and PhD national and foreign scholarships to the needy and talented students in ten years.

GC University, Faisalabad is a leading center of learning and research and has got a significant status. The University with its energetic faculty and innovative syllabi has become a substance of intellectual, social and industrial change. The university is working hard to deliver education in almost all the major fields of learning.

The GC University firstly started functioning as a primary school in 1897 in the present building of Govt. College for Women, Karkhana Bazar, Faisalabad. Further it was promoted to High School and Intermediate College in 1905 and 1924 respectively.

Then it was upraised to the degree level in 1933 and postgraduate disciplines were introduced in 1963. The university got the degree awarding status in October 2002.

The GC University, Faisalabad has a long history of excellence and distinction as an institution. Renowned scholars and eminent personalities have presented their role in the institution in various capacities at various stages of its history. It has produced outstanding personnel who have earned great fame not only for themselves but also for the nation.

The celebrities like Mr. Abdul Hameed, Mr. W.H.F. Armstrong, Mr. Lala Chattan Annand, Mr. Hashmat Khan, Mr. Taj Khyal, Mr. Namdar Khan, Mr. Karamat Hussain Jafari, Mr. Mukhtar Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Asif Iqbal Khan and Dr. Arif Zaidi have made great achievements to serve this institution.
