Lahore: The aspirants of COMSATS Institute of Information and Technology on Wednesday announced moving Lahore High Court against the chairperson of Higher Education Commission (HEC) over their dual degree programme issue.
Almost 2,800 students of the management sciences and engineering of Comsats are awaiting recognition of their dual degrees by the commission. The university was offering a dual degree in association with Lancaster University.
Envoys of students Muhammad Ali and Usama Jaleel while talking to media said “We will take legal action against the chairperson of HEC for recovery of reimbursements amounting to Rs350 million as much of the aspirants’ time has been wasted”.
They were come with lawyers Barrister Abdullah Malik and advocate Osama Sadoon.
They said that Higher Education Commission got a temporary stay from LHC against this week’s convocation of COMSATS University.
Muhammad Ali moreover said;
“After the judgment by court in the COMSATS DDP case, the institute was permitted to grant the dual degrees; Comsats and the Lancaster University (UK) together with their dual transcripts, to the aspirants. We are expecting to get justice in our case”.
All students of this dual degree programme will hold a protest outside the regional office of Higher Education Commission in Lahore Today.
